BoM Template Library

Creating BoM Templates

From the Bill of Materials Template Library, there are a few options for how to create a BoM template, you can either create it from scratch, copy an existing template or import a template from an existing product.

Some ideas of use cases for BoM templates would be, if you have a specific line that's 100% organic cotton and uses all of the same tags or packaging, instead of adding those one by one to each BoM for a product, you can create a BoM template for "100% organic". Another option is if you have several products that are constructed similarly, you can create a BoM template and import it into those products, then change the small differences between each either by editing the variants or adding/removing components needed.

Let's get started with the different options you have to create a BoM template!

Create a new BoM Template
  1. Click on the "BOM Template Library" from the global navigation.
  2. Click on the "+" icon.
  3. Enter the title, division and category for the template (required).
  4. Attach an image from your computer (optional).
  5. Click "Create".
Import a BoM Template from an existing product
  1. Click on the "BOM Template Library" from the global navigation.
  2. Click on the "+" blue icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  3. In the "Import" box, you can search existing products in your Product Library.
  4. Select the product you'd like to import
  5. Edit the template name in the "Title" section so it's more generic than the product name.
  6. Choose a division and category.
  7. You can delete the product thumbnail, by clicking the "x", if it's not going to be relevant for all products used for this BOM template.
  8. Click "Create."
  9. Click on the new BOM template to view and all the components used in the original BOM should appear.
Copy an existing BoM Template
  1. In the BOM Template Library, click the checkbox that appears in the upper left corner of the template you wish to copy.
  2. In the top right corner, click the ""  icon.
  3. Your copy will automatically be created and the name will appear with "(COPY)" at the end.

Once your BOM template is created, you have several options to edit the template.

  2. In the top right corner of your screen, click the Trash Can icon.

You can change the order of the components at any time.

  1. Grab the component and drop to the desired location.

Exporting BoM Templates

Exporting BoM templates to products from the BoM Library, should save you a lot of time in your development process and keep BoM's consistent, when needed. We've outlined a few use cases below - give it a try!

  1. Hover over the BOM Template you would like to export and check the box in the top left corner.
  2. Click "EXPORT" in the center top of the page.
  3. In the "Importing To" field, select the product you would like to import the template to
    • NOTE: You can choose more than 1 product. This gives you the ability to import the BOM template in bulk to several products at once)
  4. Click "NEXT"
  5. You have 2 options:
    • MERGE - add components to existing BOM
    • REPLACE - will delete the original components on the BOM and replace them with the new components on this BOM template.
